Transportation Information
The severe regional bus driver shortage is also affecting the Valley Center-Pauma Unified School District. Due to a lack of bus drivers, the school district unfortunately will need to separate some afternoon high-school routes into separate sessions–an early run and a late run–to start off the 2022-23 school year. The first route session departs immediately after school and, upon finishing that route, will return to pick up the second session of students. Please
review the routes carefully to see which session your student will use. The high school will be offering an after-school program that affected students can participate in while waiting for their bus ride home.
Additionally, on days when a current bus driver is unavailable, it may be necessary to have a first-session route wait for the second session due to a lack of substitute bus drivers. The district is recruiting bus drivers. As additional bus drivers are
employed, the later second-session routes will be moved to first session.
Anyone interested in applying for a bus driver position should contact the Director of Transportation, Cheri McGee, at 760-749-6382. The district trains potential drivers and offers competitive pay and benefits.
Thank you for your patience during parent pickup time at our school sites. Anyone who submitted a registration is welcome to ride the bus now.
Bus passes will be distributed to registered students by their bus drivers, additionally bus passes will be processed as soon as possible for new registered students.
If you need immediate assistance please contact your student's school site.
It is the responsibility of the parents to provide transportation to and from the school bus stop.
